Ross Island (now Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island) and North Bay Island are popular tourist destinations in Port Blair, Andaman, which are often called twin islands together. There are some practical and tourism-oriented reasons behind this special naming, these two islands are located east of Port Blair and are just a few minutes away from each other. Due to their close location, tourists can easily visit both the islands in the same day. At North Bay Island, you can participate in various adventure water sports including scuba diving, sea walking and jet skiing, and on the same day, you can visit Ross Island which was a British-era ruin and administrative center. North Bay Island, also known as "Coral Island", is famous for its coral reefs and thrilling water sports. On the other hand, on Ross Island, you will see old administrative buildings from the British rule, Japanese bunkers, churches, water treatment plants and ruins covered with banyan trees. Once this island was the administrative headquarters of the British, which was abandoned after the earthquake of 1941. Today, it is a remarkable combination of history, nature. It was on this island that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his Azad Hind Bahini declared war on the British. Since then, Ross Deep is also called “Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island”.
